Orissa Sponge iron & Steel Limited (OSISL) was incorporated as a public limited company in 1979 under the provisions of the Companies Act, 1956. The company was promoted by Torsteel Research Foundation in India (TRFI) in joint sector with Industrial Promotion and Investment Corporation of Orissa Limited (IPICOL)
